This week in the tutorial I presented my ideas to Davor concerning both my developed concept and also the type of functional buildings which I wished to design. Upon analysis during the week I could not decisively choose between the library and the law courts as the primary functions, so I discussed both with him. Upon talking with him he felt that my concept was too similar to that chosen for the folie and insisted that I make it a place where people can retreat from the world and relax. This insight was very valuable. Consequently, the idea for a Library or Law Courts was rejected. He insisted that I make the building more multi-purposeful allowing it to have numerous connecting functions. Further discussion about the idea lead to the development of a multi-arts centre for dance, music and art. I worked upon this idea in class and began to combine commercial, residential and recreational elements together to form a structure.
After this weeks tute, it was clear that I needed to further develop my building type, brief and concept which would allow for a large scaled structure to be designed within the Howard Smith Wharves site.
